Insomniac defends making its Spider-Man No Way Home DLC suits PS5-only
The new outfits will be exclusive to the PS5 version of Spider-Man Remastered
Spider-Man Remastered will be getting two new DLC suits on Friday, and developer Insomniac Games has been explaining to PS4 owners why the original version of the game won’t be getting them.
The two suits are being released to promote the upcoming movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, which arrives in cinemas on December 17, and will be added to Remastered for free.
The first suit is based on Spider-Man’s updated costume, which appears to have a metallic style chest design.
The second suit is the black one which has been seen in trailers for the movie, but its role in the film has yet to be revealed.
The suits can be seen in a new trailer for Spider-Man Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition, which includes Spider-Man Remastered. The new trailer can be seen below:

Insomniac announced the new suits on its official Twitter account, which led to some backlash from owners of the original 2018 version of Spider-Man on PS4, some of whom have still struggled to get hold of a PS5 console.
“When so many people cannot get PS5s, and one of the best times to be a Spidey fan, kicking PS4 users in the face like this is just plain wrong,” said one user.
“Would it have been so hard to release it on the PS4 version, considering the PS5’s are almost impossible to get and a lot of people don’t have one?” added another.
Insomniac responded to the latter user by explaining why it took the decision to make the suits exclusive to the PS5.
“Since its 2018 release, we’ve updated Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) 19 times, adding more suits and features than originally planned,” it said. “Each patch has been more technically complex, especially with maintaining PS4 HDD streaming performance.
“To ensure fans continue enjoying Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) at its optimal performance, we’ve made the difficult decision to release these new suits for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (PS5) where our PS5 engine allows us to update the game without jeopardizing player experience.”

Insomniac announced in September that Spider-Man 2 is in development and will be released in 2023.
The sequel was announced with a teaser trailer during a PlayStation Showcase, and confirmed Venom as the sequel’s key villain.
Venom will be voiced by Tony Todd, the actor best known for playing Candyman in the horror series of the same name, while Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will return to voice Peter Parker and Miles Morales respectively.
