Apex Legends Mobile launch times confirmed and exclusive new hero detailed
Gameplay trailer also published ahead of May 17 release
Electronic Arts has confirmed launch times for this week’s Apex Legends Mobile release.
The game will go live on May 17 at 2am PDT / 5am BST / 1pm JST / 10am AEST / 11am / SAST / 6am BRT / 2.30pm IST.
“As we prepare for launch, some regions will see the game propagate on servers before that time and in some cases today,” EA said on Monday. “The game will be fully launched, in all regions, on May 17th. See you on the drop ship.”
Apex Legends Mobile: Gameplay Launch Trailer
EA has also released an Apex Legends Mobile gameplay trailer, which is viewable above and shows off the title’s new and exclusive hero, Fade.
His passive ability, Slipstream, sees Fade gain a short movement speed boost at the end of his slide, while his tactical ability, Flashback, phases him to his previous location.
Fade’s Phase Chamber ability sees him throw an activator core from his suit, with everyone caught in the blast radius left unable to deal or receive damage for a few seconds.
Apex Legends Mobile game modes available at launch will include Team Deathmatch, 3v3, Battle Royale and Quick Battle.
Players who pre-register will unlock exclusive rewards for the community to use in the game.
Apex Legends Mobile is being developed by a dedicated team at Respawn in conjunction with Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, which is the group of developers behind PUBG Mobile.
Like Apex Legends for console and PC, the mobile title will be free-to-play and won’t include paid items that offer a gameplay advantage. It will have its own battle passes, collectible cosmetics and unique unlockables.
“We’ve built this game from the ground up with mobile-first optimisations and mobile exclusive content to make sure that the game feels like Apex while also fresh and new at the same time,” Apex Legends Mobile design director Jordan Patz said during a recent developer panel.
EA claimed last week that Apex Legends has delivered over $2 billion in net bookings since its February 2019 release.
