God of War saves can be transferred from PS4 to PS5, which will run the game at up to 60fps
God of War 3 Remastered saves can also be carried over to the next-gen console
God of War and God of War 3 Remastered saves will be transferrable from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, Sony has confirmed.
SIE Santa Monica Studio also said on Monday that God of War will be playable at up to 60fps on the next-gen console.
The studio recently teased plans to release a God of War follow-up for PS5 in 2021.
Unlike previous entries in the long-running series, which were inspired by Greek mythology, 2018’s series reboot is loosely based on Norse mythology.
It was a critical and commercial success, winning multiple Game of the Year awards and selling over 10 million copies.
Multiple first-party PS4 games have been quietly updated in recent weeks including God of War and God of War 3 Remastered, possibly in preparation for backward compatibility support on PS5. The Last of Us: Remastered has reportedly had its load times drastically improved by a recent patch.
Sony recently explained how game transfers and game saves work between PS4 and PS5. Transferring PS4 saves to the PS5 version of the same game is down to individual developers, meaning the ability to do so will vary title by title.
