Modern Warfare 2 editions, pre-order bonuses and beta details seemingly leak
Activision today confirmed an October release date for the game
New Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 details have reportedly leaked via an update to last year’s series entry.
According to Charlie Intel, dataminers have uncovered multiple references to the upcoming title via in-game files added to Call of Duty Vanguard with Tuesday’s Season 3 Reloaded update.
The files seemingly reveal the first details about the different Modern Warfare 2 editions set for release, plus information on pre-order bonuses and plans for an open beta.

Activision confirmed earlier on Tuesday that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date is October 28, 2022.
While unofficial, the datamined files suggest it plans to release three editions of the game, each of which grants early access to an open beta for PlayStation players when pre-ordered.
They are the Modern Warfare 2 Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Bundle and Vault Edition. The most expensive edition is also said to include the following:
- Battle Pass (1 Season) + 50 Tier Skips
- Red Team Operator Pack: Ghost, Soap, Price, Farah
- FJX Cinder Weapon Vault
- 10 hours 2XP and 10 hours 2WXP
- Ghost Legacy Pack: 12 Operator Skins & 10 Weapon Blueprints
Sony and Activision have a long-standing Call of Duty marketing deal which in recent years has seen PlayStation owners receive a range of exclusive content including in-game bundles, exclusive game modes and early access to public tests.
Vanguard’s Season 3 Reloaded update introduces a new close-quarters multiplayer map called Sphere, which is set in a weapons lab below the surface of a mining facility, and the H4 Blixen SMG, among other features.
